Project 1
Step 1- Precedents:
Information Shared Separately
Step 2- Concept:
For Project 1, I will be creating a multimedia indoor installation.
I will be creating image and video mandalas on the computer application,Arena.
These mandalas will be projected on Sykes Chapel through a projector.
I will be using a variety of shapes and sizes to project these mandalas.
The mandalas will be created through the inspiration of Art Nouveau and nature.
Therefore,I will be incorporating vintage Art Nouveau pieces and personal footage of nature.
A lot of Art Nouveau’s style incorporated nature, so I believe using video footage and (A.N) art, will be reflective of the style and inspiring for many.
I believe that Skyes Chapel is a great location for this project because of its trafficked location on campus.

Step 6- Additional Commentary
Throughout the process of planning this project, I was able to learn a ton along the way. I had never used any of the applications that were necessary in this project prior. At the beginning of the planning process, I was thinking about doing a multi installation project in Rathskeller. Due to unforeseen issues, I then decided to move my installation to Sykes Chapel. In Sykes Chapel, I wanted to project multiple images of both image and video mandalas. In order to create these projections, I used the application Arena to create these designs. In Arena, I was able to learn how to design my images, and most importantly projection map them. I was inspired by the Art Nouveau style in creating these mandalas. Art Nouveau incorporates a lot of nature within the design, so I wanted to make sure I would add some sort of nature aspect into the project. Once I created the Mandalas, I was able to start practicing the projection displays. I believe I learned a lot during the process of multimedia projection installation because not only have I never done this sort of project, but I also learned that I was able to incorporate skills I already have. In my opinion, this project was a success. Overall, I believe I learned a ton during the planning process. Originally, I was going to make an image/video mandala in Dreamweaver. Instead, Arena allowed me to explore my creative pursuits at a simpler, yet more visually complex imagery. I am looking forward to learning more about multimedia installation in the near future.
